Paper Roses

One of my girl friends was over. It led to us getting bored, and then we started talking weddings.  So we decided to make paper roses. It turned out pretty good. We used floral wire, fun print scrap book paper, and a hot glue gun.  We started by cutting out different sized petals. Then wrapped the smallest size petals around the wire, and gluing it in place. Then just worked our way up in petal size.
I'm going to keep them on my bookshelf in this pretty teacup.  I added these pretty pearl like beads to the centers. I think its a nice touch.
Of course Cammy had to get in on this. She always finds a way into my pictures.
Then I added the same beads and a little bit of ribbon to the wire. Just to make it look better. The wire wasn't so pretty to say the least...

Have a cupcake

So my latest project, I did because I just so happen to be rather short.  And  I have gotten tired of not being able to reach the top shelf (or middle shelf for that matter) in my kitchen cabinets.  So I decided to wanted a stool, but not just any stool. It had to be cute, and go with the cupcake theme I already have going. So I decided to paint one myself. So I just picked up a plain wooden stool at AC Moore. Then I  got to work.

First I penciled it on, then I went over that with my dremel to carve it out a little. Then started painting it with Acrylics. Of course I added iridescent medium to the paints because I'm a sucker for glitter.

Then outlined the whole thing with black to make it stand out. Then sealed it with a high gloss. And even the cat approves (Thats Cammy)

And look it works. makes me as tall as my fiancĂ©e, who happens to be 6'. So now I can reach! (sorry I never wear matching socks, just my thing)

Fun customizing Breyer Unicorn

I just recently started customizing Breyer horses. I've been collecting for years, I started reading up on what materials I would need to begin just a week ago. Now I've customized 2 finished pieces and I'm working on three more. I just wanted to share how I did it, and how it turned out.

I ordered Apoxie Sculpt, which is a two part modeling compound, as the container says. It comes in two little jars, then you mix equal parts. It works a lot like Sculpey, though instead of needing to bake it, it air drys.
I decided to turn the 'Family Arabian Stallion' into a unicorn. After I sanded all his seams I started sculpting. For the horn I used wire inside to help it keep the shape, then I twisted the clay on the wire to give it that curl/curve. I then added a new mane, feathering on his feet, a beard, and forelock. After all that set, I started painting him. That was the fun part!
I painted him with acrylics, I added to the paints Iridescent Medium. It gave him a glittery under tone. He really sparkles. I then added glitter to his hooves, and horn.
