Owl Baby Mobile

Just one of my latest projects. My daughter's nursery will be owl themed, so I've been a busy bee preparing all sorts of owl things for when she gets here. Keeps me busy while I wait for her to get here!

Before I put it all together. They are hand stitched owls made of felt. With button eyes.

I made two different colored owls. Four all together.

This is my favorite.

There it is, it was super simple to make. Just felt, some ribbon, and of course the little 'sticks' and star I used to hang them. Everything was bought at Joanne's fabric, so easy to find supplies.

Craft supplies organized! (mostly)

I have discovered I have an embarrassing amount of craft supplies. I have paints of all kinds, things for spinning, things for needle felting. Don't forget sewing and cross stitching and god knows what else! Its insane, and it has taken over my living room. Living in an apartment... with my lovely accepting husband, all my supplies engulfing an entire room was not an option! So I decided to put it all in one spot. Though every time I would think aha got it all! I would turn around and find another pile of stuff behind me.

The whole area (please click to see larger) sorry its a little blurry

Lots of scrap fabric, felt, and some tulle. I find I have the most random stuff!

Oil paints. This box was so pretty before... now covered in paint!

Thread for cross stitching, and other sewing needs. As well as some ribbon, and a hoop.

This is where it gets crazy, there are glue sticks for the hot glue gun. Paint brushes for every use you could imagine. Q-tips to throw at that cat and/or use for pastels. Boxes for buttons and needles. Crochet hooks, knitting needles and a latch hook. My lamp for when I'm crazy and up all night. Also don't forget the random Breyer horse I wanted to customize but have neglected.

Fiber to spin! All put away in ziplock bags. Sort of made it more manageable. Though made me realize I had a lot more than I knew! Also a few finished crochet projects in there.

Sculpy clay, baby wipes glue. A random container of sand from our honeymoon. Then all sorts of glue and random paints and stains.

Even more randomness! Hairspray, clear gloss sealer, matte finish. Of course my dremel, which I love! I use it for customizing Breyers. I've disturbed poor hubby chopping legs off of "Poor innocent Breyer horses". As well as my soft pastels. I truly stick things where they fit.

This is a 10 gallon bin, and yes it is filled to the brim with yarn! As well as a blanket I'm working on and a few loom knitters. As I said too much craft stuff!!

The worst part of all of this... Is this is only a little more than half... I'm telling you, I need a craft intervention!!! Any body else have this much stuff? Show me your stash! I love seeing what other people have.

Recycle shopping bags to Plarn!

Ever seen that interesting stuff called "Plarn" that some crafty people can make? Here is how to make it! You can use it to make re-usable shopping bags, instead of wasting all those plastic bags. An easy way to be green! I love being green. So pull out a whole bunch of those shopping bags, I had a ton.

Flatten one out completely.

Then fold it in half.

Fold it in half again.

Cut off the handles, and the bottom of the bag.

Then cut the middle part into one inch thick  strips.

When you unfold these strips you get loops of plastic.

Loop two of these loops together. Like this.

Put the end of one side through the other. (should look like this)

And pull tight.

Keep chaining them together, until you end up with this.

Happy crafting! You can knit or crochet with this.

Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival

What a fun day I had at MD Sheep & Wool today. All the sheep! I love feeling their wool right on the sheep. The Merino sheep were the best to see for me. Beware this will be lots of photos!

leicester longwool

Merino yearlings, I loved them!

Angora goat kid, so darn cute. I wanted to take him home. My husband said "No, we live in an apartment" He is a fun sucker.

Clun Forest ewe with twin lambs. I love their color.

California Variegated Mutant, I love this breed! Would love to one day have one.

Now for some of the stuff I got! I managed to not bring home too much. My husband kept me on a leash, that would be why I made him come with me. I had to behave.

Merino roving to spin, going to do this a little thick and thin.

Corriedale silk blend, 9.8 ounces. Cant wait to spin it, its a slight dark blue/light blue blend. This roving is pin drafted so will be easy to spin up.

1.1 pound raw Jacob fleece. This is a very nice fleece, I cant wait to wash it and run it through a drum carder.

Cant wait for next year! Any body else go? What did you get? I want to see your loot!
